Assessment and Innovation
The DRIVER project will deliver a set of innovative and practical solutions that have been validated both by crisis management professionals and by leading experts in their field. These solutions will improve the way crises are planned for and managed for all major stakeholders, including policy and decision makers, crisis managers, emergency services practitioners, training and HR professionals.
Four years of comprehensive experiments will culminate in an in-depth review by the project partners to consolidate the results and findings with a view to identifying the most suitable and practical solutions. This review will take into account any relevant legal or regulatory matters, potential impacts on society and the environment, as well as how mature, how developed or standardised and even how commercially marketable the solutions are. A key factor will be the degree to which the DRIVER solutions can improve the resilience of European crisis management agencies and organisations.
Some 35 experiments carried out during DRIVER will give enormous insight into how the experimentation test-bed can be made as effective as possible and adopted widely after the project finishes in 2018. All of this knowledge, shared learning and evidence-based findings will ensure a solid foundation that can be built upon for future research by crisis management organisations across Europe and beyond.
